Having served several decades in Indonesia, Carl (since 1978) and Cindy (since 1968) feel privileged to be teamed with the Evangelical Theological Seminary of Indonesia (ETSI). ETSI students come from all over Indonesia’s 13,000-island archipelago to study where they attend diplomas, bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral level programs. Carl teaches Old Testament subjects, Hebrew and missions. Cindy teaches counseling courses in the Christian education program as well as counsels students. She also teaches counseling at the adjoining Christian university.
The Reeds find their teaching and counseling challenging because their students come from a great many islands, each with its own cultural identity. Carl and Cindy also work with Indonesian church planters serving in the Jogjakarta area.
They have two grown children: Christy and Colin.
