Colossians 3:23 ~ "Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart as working for the Lord, not for men."

We strive for excellence in every production and have carefully scheduled rehearsals toward that end. Those involved in the drama ministry meet on the 2nd and 4th Mondays of every month to learn new skills, hone techniques and rehearse for upcoming performances.

Drama team members are also encouraged to partner with Children's Ministries in Vacation Bible School, and other related events.

NEW ACTORS ALWAYS WANTED!

If you have a thespian background of any skill level - or just have the desire to learn how to act - we want to know who you are. Between occasional full-day workshops and the bi-monthly meetings, we'll teach you what you need to know or help you adjust to our methodologies here at West Side.

Our one requirement would be that you complete a Worship and Arts Application Form and turn it in to Belinda in the church office. This gives us an opportunity to look at your performing background and talk with you about your experience, however limited that may be!

"...The real action comes next:
The main character in this drama--compared to Him I'm a mere stagehand--will ignite the kingdom life within you, a fire within you, the Holy Spirit within you, changing you from the inside out."

~ John the Baptist
Matthew 3:11 (The Message)

Drama is used at West Side in a number of areas.

Smaller sketches are performed on Sunday mornings to enhance the pastor's message. Full-scale, multiple performance productions are put on during Easter and Christmas as outreach events. Dinner theaters have been well-received over the years. And some things are presented at other times "just for fun."

Every other year, members of the drama team put on a week-long Drama & Music Camp for 2nd - 5th grade kids in the valley, ending in a performance of a kids' musical on the weekend.

With larger productions come other opportunities for people wishing to be involved in a non-performing arena. Stage crews are always required for:

  • set design & construction
  • decoration
  • costuming and make-up
  • props
  • sound and lights
